Nick Cannon's Got Talent

I love to watch America's Got Talent with my family, especially the early auditions.  It is downright intriguing to see the myriad of talents from across America featured on this show.  I enjoy almost all of them, when they last no more than two minutes each.  Even the train wrecks are entertaining!

The problem is that I can't imagine watching many any of these performers for an entire Las Vegas feature show.  The beauty of the television program is the variety.

And the best part?  Nick Cannon!  I adore his absolute enthusiasm for the show and the contestants.  All a struggling contestant requires is a little back-up from Nick to become an audience favorite!

So, while I love the television show, I probably won't ever go see the winners in Las Vegas.  Oh well . . . whatcha gonna do?

The School Talent Show

The School Talent Show

My nine-year old daughter, Kayla, was telling me today about the student talent show at her school.  The one she didn't enter because it would be too embarrassing.  She said, "Now all the boys like Paris because they can see that she can dance."

"You can dance, too," I reminded her, because while I won't pretend that she is perfect, Kayla is a talented dancer.  (And I have years' worth of expensive dance tuition receipts to show for it.)  "So maybe next year, you'll want to enter a dance routine in the talent show."

"Why would I want to do that?" she asked me, giving me a wild-eyed look as if I had lost my mind.  "I don't want any boys to like me!"

Phew . . . at least that is one (little) thing that I don't have to worry about . . . yet!

The Secret to Happiness

The Secret to Happiness

I've been a practicing psychologist for many years so I like to think I know a thing or two about finding personal meaning and setting life goals.

You want to know the secret to a life well-lived?

Shhhhh.  I'll tell you . . .

The secret to happiness is the ability to see the good, the funny, the joyous, the blessings in this world.  It is the ability to laugh at one's self.  To appreciate the rainbow more than you complain about the rain.  That's it . . . in a nutshell.

So if you're looking for serious contemplations about the meaning of life, look elsewhere . . . this isn't the blog for you.  But if you are looking for little reminders about the numerous ways in which life is funny, entertaining, or simply ironic . . . read on.

This is the place where I plan to wax poetic make my simple observations about this funny world we live in, both ha-ha funny and strange funny.
