The School Talent Show

The School Talent Show

My nine-year old daughter, Kayla, was telling me today about the student talent show at her school.  The one she didn't enter because it would be too embarrassing.  She said, "Now all the boys like Paris because they can see that she can dance."

"You can dance, too," I reminded her, because while I won't pretend that she is perfect, Kayla is a talented dancer.  (And I have years' worth of expensive dance tuition receipts to show for it.)  "So maybe next year, you'll want to enter a dance routine in the talent show."

"Why would I want to do that?" she asked me, giving me a wild-eyed look as if I had lost my mind.  "I don't want any boys to like me!"

Phew . . . at least that is one (little) thing that I don't have to worry about . . . yet!
